All about Me: My Duyen

My name is My Duyen Pavey. I am a sophomore, and I plan on majoring in History. While attending Knox, I participate in the Art History Club and Vietnamese Club. I am the secretary of both clubs. In addition, I have been a general member of the DND Club and the ASA Club. Although I don’t know what I want to do, I work hard to achieve my academic goals. I work at the Gizmo on weekends to earn money and stay involved with the school.

I picked this course to expand my knowledge of Indigenous culture and history. Our school system in America often lacks proper teaching about Indigenous history and people, so I decided to study more about Indigenous people and their impact on the United States.

  1. Hi My Duyen! Welcome to HIST 281! I’m glad your here and I look forward to your insights this term! I enjoyed reading about your interests in history, and also acknowledging how there is a widespread lack of education around Native history in U.S. history courses. I am greatly looking forward to all of the sources, stories, and experiences that will help us engage with Native history beyond 1871!

I look forward to seeing how you engage with the course material and contribute to our discussions!
