What caught my attention early on was the termination policy. The American people did not want anything to do with the Native Americans and wanted to end their savage, as some call it, religions. [“Approximately 2,500,000 acres (10,000 km 2) of trust land was removed from protected status during these years.”] Now let that sink in your mind, they took away over 2 million acres of land from the natives. Your average house nowadays is a half of an acre or an acre in some cases. They wanted the native people abolished not just terminated. I think that in present day that Natives that still own their piece of land and live on a reservation, they have a lot more power than they did back then. One is because in my opinion most of them have slowly turned into Americans more than Indians. Two is because of how we treat people today, we have rights and laws now that everyone has to abide by.
