Turner’s thesis had a significant impact on how people in the late 19th and early 20th centuries understood American identity, character, and national growth. The way it affected the Native People was it gave the Americans a boost in morale and made them want to kick the Native people out of their land now and not later. The Wounded Knee Massacre was devastating to the Native Americans because they lost a very big portion of themselves, and it decreased their morale. It really showed the Native Americans how far the United States would go to get them out of the way. In my opinion we still are struggling with this, we are fighting amongst ourselves and can’t take control of our own country to this day. Turners’ speech is still taught to this day in classes because that’s how inspirational it truly was for the United States.
