When we talked about Native Sovereignty and Border Enforcement, Native Sovereignty is never really considered in immigration decisions. Native people along the California and Mexican border are often mistreated and misidentified by the Border Patrol and Police. What also happens is that Native People may not always have full documentation because birth certificates were not always issued for home births on reservations. Some reservations are affected by the borders and are not allowed to travel freely through their lands because of the borders. Nowadays we have blimps, helicopters, patrol units, police, cameras, walls, and plenty of military personnel near the borders to stop an invasion or even just anyone sneaking across. Now when it comes to the making boundaries for National Parks, there is a huge argument that still continues to this day on this specific topic. I personally think the Native Peoples should be allowed to live in these National Parks and hunt/fish when they want. Yet they have to follow a certain Law so they don’t over kill or over fish the rivers in those National Parks. Glacier National Park was mainly Black Feet Native People that controlled this area. Then came the first homesteaders trying to claim this land and explore it for the United States. Over time the Black Feet were kicked out of their lands and pushed into a specific reservation. Today they own 1.5 million acres along Glacier National Park’s Eastern Border.
