The Battle of Little Big Horn shows the strength of the Lakota and their allies, who suffered an estimated 26 casualties compared with roughly 260 of the 7th Cavalry. This strength the Lakota and its allies showed crushes the hopes of the US to mine the region for both minerals and meats. Yet the Lakota victory was also significant because it was temporary. Whether or not the Battle of Little Bighorn changed the trajectory of US policy towards the tribes of the Great Plains, and Native Americans across the continent, it undoubtedly changed the speed at which the military was deployed to ‘subdue’ their villages across the north.[https://www.historyhit.com/why-was-the-battle-of-little-bighorn] This battle can be compared to the Wabash River Battle, one of the most severe defeats the US army experienced at the hands of Native People. There forces overwhelmed the US and the Natives defeated the Americans and pushed them out of the area making a stand and proving a point that they can stand up against the US army. This was also 80 years before the Battle of Little Big Horn.
